Following Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao to win their 31st Copa del Rey title, Gerard Piqué, El Presidente, once again couldn’t stop himself from doing a classic.
After the full-time whistle, the 33-year-old spoke to the cameras:
“It’s been a tough year, it’s a bit like life, sometimes you fall and you have to get up. The team has turned the situation around. I’m happy for the team, for the players and for everyone.
“It may not be the most important competition, but in difficult times where we have suffered, such a victory is very important. I’m very happy for everyone, for Koeman and for the entire staff,” said Piqué.
What had initially started on the pitch, continued even afterwards: As soon as he got out of the team bus upon arriving at the hotel, the captain started spraying the journalist with champagne. Hilarious and happy scenes from the team were present.

Piqué also did not forget to follow the tradition, as he cut the goalnet following the final whistle.

This marks the Barcelona’s first trophy after Joan Laporta’s first month in office. It looks like a new era has started for the Catalan club.
