Barcelona’s summer overhaul continues to operate in full force, as left-back Junior Firpo, one of the players who the club is seeking to sell this summer, seemingly has two new suitors, as reported by SPORT. The two parties are Premier League teams Southampton and West Ham United.
The club has to pick up the pace on their exit operations, as the incoming signings are gaining massive traction. With Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero already announced officially, Barcelona are also on track to secure the services of Emerson Royal and Georginio Wijnaldum.
As for Junior Firpo, he has been long linked to a move away from Barcelona for the past months. He even reportedly came close to a January departure. Another Premier League outfit in Arsenal have also had the left-back on their radar, as well as a few Serie A clubs including Napoli.
Currently though, Southampton and West Ham have been in contact with the Catalans to negotiate an agreement for a few days now and both parties have reportedly reached an advanced stage.
Firpo has failed to make a real mark at Barcelona since arriving from Real Betis, but it has not been feasible to sell him earlier due to a dearth of options at the left-back position for Barcelona. Currently, the club values him at 16 million euros plus add ons and/or variables to minimise their losses.
If Firpo gives the deal his approval, Barcelona will be able to get their asking price considering the number of clubs showing interest in the Spanish-Dominican fullback.
