Reports coming in from Calciomercato relayed via Mundo Deportivo, state that Barcelona winger Francisco Trincao has two suitors from the Serie A, as a move away from Spain inches closer for the winger. Trincao has not been able to showcase the best version of himself since arriving from Braga last summer, leading many to believe that it would be best for him to seek a move out of Barcelona.
The Portuguese youngster has made 39 appearances for Barcelona, most of which have come as a substitute, scoring three goals and providing two assists in the process. While he has shown signs of promise, he has failed to mount any real challenge towards acquiring a starting role in Ronald Koeman’s team.
The report highlights that Juventus and AC Milan, two of the biggest sides in Italy, see Trincao as a wonderful prospect to integrate into their projects. Back in 2020, Juventus were in the race alongside Barcelona to sign the 21-year old from Braga, but the Catalans eventually secured the deal for around 31 million euros.
With Barcelona’s financial woes, thinking about signings in the upcoming summer transfer window has become increasingly tricky. The Catalans already have to take pressure off the overflowing wage bill and offload players if they are to facilitate any arrivals.
If a suitable offer comes in, Trincao will definitely be one of the players with whom the club can part ways, largely due to the tactical setup and a mix of poor form and confidence for the winger. Since Koeman’s shift to a three-person defensive formation, opportunities for Trincao have been even more sparse. Even if he makes a cameo off the bench, the shape does not suit his best qualities.
