Manchester United could benefit as Barcelona sign Agüero and Depay

La Blaugrana were always set to have a summer of free agents, and that seems to finally be manifesting as Sergio Agüero has officially been announced, and other signings like Memphis Depay and Eric García are reportedly close to being completed.

One area which the Catalans are well endowed is the attack: with the likes of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembélé, Ansu Fati, Trincão, Alex Collado, and more recently Agüero and Depay, there is a huge stock of attacking talent, some of which may even be deadweight.

Because of two major attacking signings this summer, Barcelona may be looking to offload some of their players in order to ease the dire financial situation. In truth, the Catalans never struggled in attack last season.

Despite the lack of a number 9 (now remedied with the signing of the former Manchester City attacker), Barcelona still retained the best attacking record in the league, and that was with an injured Ansu Fati and inconsistent form from Dembélé, Griezmann, and Trincão.

Now, with Fati set to return, Collado promoted, and two new attackers ready to join the squad, the attacking depth is massive, and Barcelona’s offensive prowess appears safe. This may mean that Dembélé and Griezmann, who have been rumoured with a move away from Camp Nou this summer, may actually be set to leave, according to reports by Express.

Both Frenchman have been linked away from Barcelona as a result of their inconsistent form. Griezmann reportedly had interest from the red half of Manchester during his stint at Atlético, but he chose to join the Catalans instead.

The World Cup winner may be the subject of a 70 million Pound cash move to Old Trafford this summer, and this may even seem likely with Barcelona looking to aid their financial situation.

Similarly, Ousmane Dembélé had interest from Manchester United last summer with them failing to sign Jadon Sancho, who had been on their radar for a significant amount of time. The French winger was undoubtedly a second choice, and the move only failed to materialise over a disagreement on whether the Frenchman would initially go out on loan.

This summer, Manchester United are interested in Sancho once again, but should the move fail for a second time, it may be possible that they look towards Dembélé as a replacement, which may tempt the Catalans, seeing the influx of attacking talent this summer.

That aside, the Frenchman also had interest from top Italian clubs such as Serie A giants Juventus. Although the price may be why a move does not happen, seeing as Barcelona paid a massive sum to Dortmund for his signing, he certainly has interest, considering his age and talent.
